HADIMBA DEVI TEMPLE, MANALI

                         HADIMBA DEVI TEMPLE

This Temple is dedicated to Hadimba Devi, the wife of Bhima (one of the Pandavas), from the Great Hindu Epic Mahabharata. Hadimba Devi was the ruler of the country until Ghatotkacch (Sons of Bhima, Hadimba Devi) reached an age where he could be ruled. Hadimba Devi fled to the Himalayas for a strict austere meditation in order to save her country once Ghatotkacch became eligible. Hadimba became a goddess through her penitential life of penance and rare supernatural powers. It is believed that Goddess Hadimba Devi has been generously blessing the people of the area and guiding them.

Raja Bahadur Singh built this Temple in the 15th century. This temple is believed by Hadimba Devi to have been the location where she meditated. The temple's name was derived from this mythology.
